Veterinary Surgeon Shrewsbury

Are you seeking a position with diverse, engaging work, a fantastic team, and no on-call or night duties? We have an excellent opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon in a well-equipped practice in Shrewsbury.

Supported by a team of experienced nurses, many of whom hold or are pursuing certificates in various specializations, this role offers a great collaborative environment. The full-time schedule is 39 hours per week, spread over four days with 1 in 6 weekends, working day shifts only. There is no sole charge, as another vet will always be present. Our night services are managed by a separate team, and bank holiday duties are shared across the region, typically requiring only one shift or fewer annually.

Our practice handles both first opinion work and specialized cases referred for imaging, medicine, cardiology, and surgery. We encourage continuing professional development (CPD) and provide flexible allowances to support further studies and certifications.

Our facilities include a CT scanner, visiting MRI, endoscopy equipment, a modern ultrasound scanner, digital and dental radiography, advanced GA monitoring, electrocautery, tonometry, and hydrotherapy. The in-house lab is equipped for biochemistry, haematology, clotting times, blood gas analysis, lactate monitoring, microscopy, and rapid cytology or faecal analysis with Imagyst.

Shrewsbury is a historic, vibrant market town featuring Tudor architecture and is surrounded by the stunning Shropshire countryside. It’s conveniently close to Wales and less than two hours from the Welsh coast.
