Veterinary Surgeon Norfolk

We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled Veterinary Surgeon to join a prestigious practice located in Horsford, Norfolk, just outside the charming city of Norwich. The practice is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities including separate wards for dogs, cats, and exotics, advanced diagnostic equipment such as ultrasound and digital x-ray machines, and holds a coveted cat-friendly status. With a special interest in exotic pet care, the practice offers a unique environment where professionals can thrive.

This is a full-time permanent position, comprising 39 hours per week over four days, with a manageable 1:3 half weekend rotation. Flexibility is valued, and we are open to accommodating individual preferences wherever possible.

Role Accountabilities

  • Perform a variety of surgical procedures with precision and care
  • Conduct thorough pre-operative assessments and provide comprehensive post-operative care
  • Collaborate with the team to develop tailored treatment plans for patients
  • Utilize diagnostic tools effectively, including laboratory tests, imaging, and ultrasound
  • Prescribe medication and advocate for preventative care measures such as vaccinations
  • Educate clients on pet care best practices and preventative healthcare
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to support team members
  • Ensure adherence to veterinary ethics, regulations, and procedures
  • Maintain accurate medical records for all patients

Your Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medicine or equivalent
  • Registration with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS)
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and treating various medical conditions in animals
  • Strong surgical skills for routine and complex procedures
  • Knowledge of anaesthesia protocols and pain management techniques
  • Excellent communication skills with clients and colleagues
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Critical thinking skills for diagnosing complex cases and providing critical care
